Study Claims People Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19 Are Less Likely To Die Of Other Causes As Well
According to a new study published by the CDC, people fully vaccinated for the COVID-19 vaccine are also less likely to die of other causes other than the virus as well!
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated their official website on Friday, telling the population that receiving the shots might just lower their risk of death regardless of cause, as opposed to unvaccinated individuals.
Referring to a joint project by CDC and 9 other healthcare organizations that gather data on vaccines from clinical studies, their report reads:
“A cohort study was conducted during December 2020 and July 2021 among approximately 11 million people enrolled in 7 Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) sites. After standardizing mortality rates by age and sex, this study found COVID-19 vaccine recipients had lower non-COVID-19 mortality than unvaccinated people.”
The study was led by Stanley Xu from Kaiser Permanente Southern California and analyzed people vaccinated with all three available anti-COVID vaccines, namely Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson.
What they were able to find was that those who had received both doses of any of these vaccines had lower mortality rates regardless of causes, when compared to those who had only received one dose of any vaccine.
At the same time, those who chose Pfizer or Moderna had lower mortality rates than those vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
More precisely, individuals injected with two doses of Pfizer were 34 percent less likely to lose their lives of non-COVID related causes than those unvaccinated, while Moderna lowered their risks by 31 percent.
Finally, those who had received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine were 54 percent as likely to die as unvaccinated people, CNN first cited.
And that was not the only conclusion. The study reaffirmed that the vaccines are safe to receive and are also effective against their main target – COVID-19.
As per the CNN, Xu said that “COVID-19 vaccines authorized in the United States have [been] shown again and again to be safe. This study also confirms their safety.”
Nigerian Commercial Banks Reportedly Make COVID-19 Vaccination Compulsory For Staff
Nigerian banks have reportedly issued directives mandating staff to get vaccinated against COVID-19, or post negative covid-19 results every two weeks.
According to a report by TheCable, six banks shared circulars to their workers asking them to get vaccinated or conduct COVID-19 tests on a bi-weekly basis at personal cost.
This comes after the federal government mandated civil servants to get vaccinated against COVID-19 last week.
Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), said unvaccinated workers would be barred from entering their places of work from December 1, 2021.
“Those are the options. If you are not taking the vaccine, then you’ll have to show your test result every two weeks,” an bank staff said to TheCable .
Since February 2020, Nigeria has recorded more than 200,000 cases and almost 3,000 deaths due to covid-19.
